How much money could laser eye surgery save you?

Affordable laser eye surgery options
At Optimax, we know that the cost of laser eye surgery is something that can cause people to have some hesitancy around opting for the treatment. We have a fixed price of £1,995 per eye, regardless of your prescription, and we offer payment plans in order to help you spread the cost. These payment plans can be set up over different periods of time, from 12 months to 48 months. Our 12 month plan is even interest free, while our plans for 18+ months are interest bearing at 9.9% APR. You can read more about the payment plans we offer on our website here.
How much do glasses and contact lenses cost?
We’ve looked at the average costs associated with wearing glasses and contact lenses, and how much this adds up over the course of a few years.
Average cost:
- Sight test - £25 (once every 2 years)
- Glasses - £300 (once every 2 years)
- Contact lens appointment - £25 (twice a year)
- Contact lenses - £23 per month
- Contact lens solutions - £5 per month
Average yearly cost:
- Sight test - £12.50
- Glasses - £150
- Contact lens appointment - £50
- Contact lenses - £276
- Contact lens solutions - £60
Total yearly cost: £548.50
This means that in just over 7 years, you could make back the money you invested in laser eye surgery, instead of forking out for glasses, contact lenses and all the associated appointments and paraphernalia. That’s not the only benefit – your risk of vision loss from contact lens infections is actually 10 times higher than experiencing vision loss from any laser eye surgery complications. Combine that with the hassle-free lifestyle that comes from ditching your glasses and contact lenses, and laser eye surgery looks like an even more favourable choice.
