Prof. Abdo Karim Tourkmani is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in cornea, cataract, refractive and anterior segment surgery. After graduating from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, he ranked in the top 10% nationally in the MIR examination before training at the prestigious Fundación Jiménez Díaz Hospital. His early excellence earned him an immediate Consultant appointment and, shortly after, he placed in the top 10% of candidates in the European Board of Ophthalmology examination.

He completed fellowships in complex cornea and refractive surgery in Mexico and a senior fellowship in cornea
and complex cataract surgery in Southampton. Prof. Tourkmani became an NHS Consultant in 2017 and has since introduced innovative procedures in the UK, including Bowman Layer Transplantation. He has published widely, presents internationally, and has been recognised by the ISRS/AAO as Surgeon of the Month. He continues to advance the field through research, teaching and specialist surgical practice.
